The Mission Houses Museum presents
Places In The Heart
An evening of Mele and Mo‘olelo with renowned Hawaiian music entertainer, Kumu Hula and Nā Hokū Hanohano Award Winner Kimo Alama Keaulana and his accompanists, Lei Hulu.
They perform for us Na Mele, the music of beautiful Honolulu in the 1930s through song with ‘ukulele, piano, Hawaiian steel guitar, upright bass, acoustic guitar, and vibraphone.
Take a stroll down memory lane at a time when Honolulu was fragrant as a plumeria blossom, when lei sellers lined the pier at Aloha Tower with their fresh, sweet leis for sale. Return to a time when the anticipation of the Lurline steaming into Honolulu Harbor was apparent to all, as was the lure of dancing under the stars at the Alexander Young Hotel. It is our wish that each of these songs and stories evoke memories of a special time and place in your heart!
Free Admission!!
